This is easily the worst online course I have ever attempted.
The course administration is abysmal. This has clearly been created to incorporate into an LMS, however, instead we are provided with a sequence of disparate videos to click though. Many videos fail to 'complete' correctly, which appears to make it impossible to retrieve the final course completion certificate at the end.
There appear to be videos out of sequence, duplicated videos, the final exam is marked out of 12 questions, however only 11 questions are presented; meaning that even getting every question correct will result in less than 100%. Half the English language exam is actually in Spanish - Thank god for the google translate chrome extension.
Some of the questions are very badly worded in English.
Some of the content is worthwhile, albeit that it only scratches the surface with topics introduced but not expanded upon.
However, any benefits are offset by negatives, such as videos which are cut short, meaning that sections of information are missed. There are several occasions where text is appearing onscreen and, at the same time, the narrator is reading something entirely different. This makes it very difficult to follow.
Many times, usefull looking diagrams appear but they are too small and pixelated to read. They often disappear rapidly anyway with the narrator moving onto something else.
The "quizzes" within the course are inactive, as this appears to have been pulled from somewhere else (as I mention above with regards to an LMS).
The sound quality is poor, with muffled narration and wildly varying audio levels and, at times, the narrator appears to be either uncomfortable reading from autocue, or does not understand the subject matter. Inflections and rhythm are off, which makes the vocals difficult to follow.
Fortunately, there are subtitles however, unfortunately, half the time they appear in Spanish, despite being on the English option.
I'd say that it is long overdue for an overhaul!
I've spent one and a half work days on this, and sadly, I have learned about 20 minutes worth of new information.
If you are looking to expand your existing knowledge of hydrgraphic survey, this course will probably disappoint you.
If you are new to hydrgraphic surveying and hoping to get a good introduction to the basics, I'd probably suggest looking elsewhere for a course which is easier to follow.
